Werewolves, meet Jane Eyre…

6007063340_13052e3674_z

‘He doesn’t want to play at brother wolves.  Romulus and Remus can go take a hike, the romance of their tale is lost on him entirely.  (God damn Ree for making him into Scheherezade.  For reading him more stories night after night, since drawing him into an intimacy like ropes about his chest and arms. All the fault of Jane Eyre that first day: Ree has woven a whole romance about their reunion, as well as their boyhood amity, and now must replay it constantly.  His own Mr Rochester: but Penn remembers, Miss Jane had a few pithy opinions about the man, however infatuated.

But anyway.  A three, four mile run? After the night he’s had already?’

Wolf Slave 33 – Alex Ankarr

He hates wolves: it’s the first principle of his life. This is a matter purely initiated through necessity, and for his own potential advantage. He feels an odd spasm, a twist at his heart, as Ree murmurs more, rubs his face deeper into Penn’s neck and sighs gustily. Reaches, catches, squeezes Penn’s hand.

Penn could never love a wolf, no, never. It’s an impossibility. It would lead to nothing but trouble for him.

Penn hopes that he could never love a wolf.

Wolf Slave 32 – Alex Ankarr

Ree’s in love with him. Whether he’s going to express it that way or not – to a chattel, to a slave, to the friend of his youth – Penn isn’t a fool. He can work it out for himself. There’s barely an equation involved: it’s plain fact. He’s averted something: this isn’t, now, going to be a fast loveless fuck up against the wall or over the table. So where? There’s a big roomy leather couch in the treatment room to the side of the main hall, he remembers. There, then.

And he brushes kisses against Ree’s cheek, feels the stir and tremble it yanks out of him. ‘Not here,’ he murmurs, and strokes Ree’s hand. After that it’s pathetically easy for Penn to lead him by the hand, and lay him down on the couch, before stripping off his tunic and leggings before him.

Ree watches wide-eyed, and Penn feels all the power of it. A slave, he is: and he has this wolf in the hollow of his hand. Who’s the slave, right now? He feels every second of Ree’s eyes on him as he reveals his body: gathers his nerve together and watches his master pull his clothes off fast enough to leave fabric burns, surely.

Wolf Slave 31 – Alex Ankarr

There must be an extraordinary power in his voice: for it has stilled Ree completely, though he’s still pushed and bent back against the table, Ree’s body pressed up against his, hard and desirous. And Ree’s voice is a low burr. ‘That… wasn’t what I wanted. First we were friends: long since, back in the mists of time, it seems now. I never forgot: I missed you when you were gone. And when I found you and had you back, it seemed like perhaps we could regain that happiness. But you hated me on principle: oh, don’t deny it. Didn’t I say I could smell it on you?’ He reaches down, though, and takes a hold of both Penn’s hands, pulls them from his hair and shoulder to clasp them tight.

Penn gives away more than he intends, his voice more raw than it should be – he knows better than to show this much weakness – when he says, ‘I felt I had reason. You don’t know – there are things that have happened, to me. To my mother, when she was alive. You don’t know the life of a slave.’ He clamps his lips, then. He won’t say more: will not give details. Even if he wanted to, it would hurt too much. He can’t do that: certainly, not yet. He’ll choose another moment: one when it will benefit him more, is necessary to win Ree’s sympathy and support. To gain funds or favours or freedom, some other moment.

So he calculates: but still he’s hard as Ree, and still his hard self-protectiveness has been a little broken down. Ree seems to guess at some of what he’s hinting, in any case: pulls his head back and leans, takes a hold of Penn’s face and stares into it, searching. ‘I don’t know who it was, who hurt you,’ he says finally. ‘But I will deal with that for you, at some point. Someone has a beating coming.’ And Penn draws an unsteady breath: perhaps he might have Ree do that. He well might.

But right now… Ree brushes lips against his hair: it’s good. It’s very good, it’s a vast improvement. The sudden jerk and leap of his heart has nothing to say in the matter: it’s potentially useful, that’s all.

He’s snugged in closer: and that’s it, from a bruising, intimidating pursuit, suddenly he’s being snuggled up close there: tender as well as intense. ‘I kept thinking,’ Ree murmurs, ‘that if I didn’t push you too much, if I took it slow, then we could be friends again. Then it was about more than that. I’d forgotten you were beautiful: I’d only remembered you were funny, and stubborn, and had a temper like an oncoming train… none of which you were showing me, too busy being the perfect slave and hating my guts…’ His touches now are still gentle, but quicker, more urgent. He’s speaking up against Penn’s hair: rubbing his face against it.

Wolf Slave 30 – Alex Ankarr

It would be easier if it wasn’t setting Penn’s own loins on fire, wasn’t making him weak and numb-limbed, ready to submit most truly, to give Ree whatever he demands as if he had the right, truly, to demand it. But no. He has to take control of this: for the sake of his entire future. So he doesn’t resist: because that might lead to anger, and make a quick angry fuck and being discarded as evidence of shame and culpability, all the more likely.

No, if anything he twines and lingers up against Ree’s hard body, all the more pliant, giving him no resistance. Letting his arms twine up and around Ree’s neck, his thick bull-neck as Ree gets his hands up, ready to push Penn down on the table. And it works, up to a point: a soft warm welcome has Ree’s hands suddenly gentling, less forceful and more caressing. The hand in Penn’s hair is almost tender in an instant: and it’s unfortunate, really, because that makes Penn remember the owner who’d used and abused him. That one had loved his hair, the white-blond fire of it, and the blueness of his eyes too. His colouring has always made him remarkable, noticeable: far from a good thing, usually, for a slave. Perhaps it’s part of why Ree has remembered him so long, kept on looking for him past the point where it made any sense.

But he pushes that away, because there are things more important. Survival is more important, and flourishing is more important still. Holding and pressing his advantages, that’s what he requires of himself.

Remembering that makes it easier to push himself up against Ree, instead of flinching and pulling away. (Or merely co-operating sexually, which would be easy enough. Now, pressed against the table, their hard-ons are pressed up against each other, and every pleasurable-painful throb makes it harder to think.) He can feel how it encourages the ardour, but gentle ardour, now, of Ree’s response: rubbing his body up against Penn, but less harsh, less forceful. More, there, of wanting to elicit a response, an arousal in return. That’s to be encouraged, it’s all to the good.

He leans to whisper into Ree’s ear, and knows what to say. It’s instinct: they know each other, even if they’ve been dancing around each other, these last days and weeks. ‘Why didn’t you just take me, then?’ he whispers. But he lets his hand stray up, to the raven glint of Ree’s hair, as he says it, to take the sting out. ‘If I’m property, a chattel: if I’m a slave. You could have: there’s barely a soul in the land would not acquit you as within your rights. That’s if they even thought it worth remarking on.’ And suddenly, truly, he wants to know. ‘Why didn’t you?’

Wolf Slave 29 – Alex Ankarr

Fortunately Ree speaks again, and drags his attention to other things, before he can do anything so unutterably foolish. ‘All the care I have taken, what a fool I’ve been. Not that I didn’t know it: and my mother was quick enough to tell me so. To think to court you slow, to acclimatize you to the idea… What a fool I’ve been. To court a chattel, to seek permission and budding of feeling, to build on fond memories of childhood friendship…’ He shakes Penn a little, and his voice is raw and rough. Penn still keeps his eyes modest, submits: but he wants to look up, now, for other reasons. He wants to see what’s in those green eyes. They must surely be the shade of a stormy sea right now.

Ree gives him one last shake, and his head jolts back with it, so he gets to see the grimace on that handsome face, the snarl on his lips. ‘I should have bent you over my bed and fucked you like any other owner would have. These past weeks I’ve tried to get close, but all I get out of you is flattery and lies and hate. You think you’re so clever, as if I can’t tell: the stink of hate pours off you, Penn. I’m just another wolf and master to you, aren’t I: well, I suppose I may as well act like one.’

Penn’s pretty much a fool not to expect what comes next. But it’s still a shock, when Ree bends his head and bites Penn’s neck, and he can’t do a thing to help the cry that bursts from his lips. Not every bite from werewolf, born or made, can turn a human: it takes intent and other ingredients besides, and is rare enough in any case. Slaves aren’t so very cheap that owners are eager to lose one: and it’s illegal to keep a wolf, even a turned one, as a slave, though in that case they may be made a freed servant.

Then Penn’s being jostled backwards, towards the trestle table in the middle of the room, and Ree’s hands are everywhere. He’d be disingenuous if he said that the notion of this happening comes as a complete shock: he’s cogitated enough, wondering over Ree’s intentions, if old childhood bonds have developed now into adult attraction. But this isn’t the way it should happen: and there’s a reason for that. The reason is that, after the last time, Penn swore that if he ever wound up getting fucked by a master again, he’d turn it somehow to his own advantage. He wouldn’t just be getting used.

And this, this thing with Ree, it has potential: potential to be useful to him, to enhance his life. But not this way, the way it’s going as Ree has his hands all over Penn, is roughly feeling at his ass and his arms, his chest, puts a hand in his hair and grasps it firmly enough to force him along and back. The way this is going, it’s going to end with Penn getting fucked over a table, and he can’t have that. A quick rough easy fuck, that’s all he’ll be to Ree then, without influence or softer feelings involved. And the first encounter can determine later ones: if it begins that way then it’s liable to continue so, for as long as it does continue. He must turn this back, set them back on course for softer, more emotional channels.

It would just be so much easier if he wasn’t at all attracted to Ree. It would be easier without Ree’s hands all over him now: hot and hard and wanting, as he pushes Penn up against the table and puts his lips over Penn’s face, his neck, in kisses that aren’t one bit tender: are angry and tasting and most purely lustful, exploratory of something he means to have.
